MALE BREAST REDUCTION (Gynecomastia)
Men can experience breast enlargement for various reasons. It is most commonly seen on teenagers, with no apparent cause; however, it is sometimes seen as a side effect of medications in older patients. This condition can have a negative impact on a man's self-esteem.
Gynecomastia surgery may involve liposuction, removal of any breast tissue or a combination of the two. When removal of tissue is required, it is typically performed through an incision under the areola. In severe cases, skin removal is also required.
The surgery takes about two hours. It is performed under general anesthesia administered by a board certified anesthesiologist.
