Dr. Zuniga began his surgical career in 1987 and is committed to providing his patients with natural appearing results that will surpass their expectations. His philosophy is to first listen to the patient to understand and appreciate their concerns and then provide a customized treatment plan that is both state of the art and realistic. He is known for his straightforward and honest approach and is truly committed to providing his patients with exceptional care and results. He believes that plastic surgeons have a unique opportunity to enhance the quality of a patient’s life by improving their body image and increasing their self esteem.

Education and Training
Dr. Zuniga graduated Cum Laude from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He subsequently graduated Cum Laude from Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska and completed his general surgery internship at St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center in San Francisco, California where he was named surgical intern of the year. He completed his general surgery training at the University of California San Francisco Fresno – Central San Joaquin Valley Medical Education Program. Following five years of general surgery training, he completed a three-year plastic surgery residency at St. Francis Memorial Hospital and the Bothin Burn Center in San Francisco, California. During this training, he spent six months at the world renown Bunke Clinic, perfecting skills in microvascular surgery. His extensive training with many leaders and innovators in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery allow him to draw upon a wealth of knowledge and experience when treating his own patients.

Dr. Zuniga is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also an active member of the California Medical Association and the Fresno-Madera Medical Society.

Dr.Zuniga believes strongly that patients deserve physicians who are well trained, certified, and who believe in the importance of ongoing medical education. He believes that well trained plastic surgeons have the unique expertise to manage a wide array of reconstructive problems and an eye for achieving aesthetic results.

Areas of Expertise
While Dr. Zuniga’s medical school education and extensive training would allow him to perform any number of complicated surgical procedures, he has focused his practice on facial and body contouring. In addition, he has a particular interest in breast reconstruction following cancer treatment. He understands the importance of restoring and enhancing what has been lost in order to improve the quality of life. He is also excited by the tremendous advancements in nonsurgical rejuvenation such as Botox and skin and soft tissue fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm, Radiesse, and Sculptra. He believes that years of operative experience gives plastic surgeons a special appreciation of facial anatomy that's invaluable in performing these procedures. He also feels that a plastic surgeon's appreciation of art and beauty contribute to attaining natural results.
