Education & Training
Dr. Zuniga graduated Cum Laude from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He subsequently graduated Cum Laude from Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska and completed his general surgery internship at St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center in San Francisco, California where he was named surgical intern of the year. He completed his general surgery training at the University of California San Francisco Fresno – Central San Joaquin Valley Medical Education Program. Following five years of general surgery training, he completed a three-year plastic surgery residency at St. Francis Memorial Hospital and the Bothin Burn Center in San Francisco, California. During this training, he spent six months at the world renown Bunke Clinic, perfecting skills in microvascular surgery. His extensive training with many leaders and innovators in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery allow him to draw upon a wealth of knowledge and experience when treating his own patients.
Certification
Dr. Zuniga is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Locally, he is an active member of the California Medical Association and is an active member of the Fresno-Madera Medical Society.
Dr. Zuniga believes strongly that patients deserve physicians who are well trained, certified, and who believe in the importance of ongoing medical education. He believes that well trained plastic surgeons have the unique expertise to manage a wide array of reconstructive problems and an eye for achieving aesthetic results.
Areas Of Interest
Dr. Zuniga has focused his practice primarily on aesthetic breast surgery, revision breast surgery and body contouring procedures. In addition, he has a particular interest in breast reconstruction related to cancer treatment. He has developed a close working relationship with the Radin Breast Cancer Center in Clovis California providing patients with aesthetic outcomes that contribute to their sense of recovery and emotional well being.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Zuniga has a passion for outdoor living. He enjoys golfing, deep sea fishing, hiking and traveling. He is most proud of his three children, Lauren, Julia and Michael who are embarking on their own careers and families.
